Trompe l'Oeil

Trompe l'Oeil fine art appeals to both my mathematical and artistic sides, combining the technical aspects of making a two-dimensional rendering of an object look like the real thing and creating something pleasing to the eye at the same time. It is truly a way to have fun with a paintbrush!

What is Trompe l'Oeil Fine Art?

[trahmp loeh, French, fool the eye] A painting in which life-size subjects are rendered in great detail, oriented flat against the plane of the painting, with deep shadows under the edges of the objects to create the illusion of three-dimensions on a two-dimensional surface and fool viewers into thinking they are looking at the actual objects.
